image hosted by ImageVenue.comSimon Iddol is here with the latest buzz from the world of bootlegs, mashups, bastard pop or underground remixes. This week I'm gonna show you a new way to create mashups. Well, its not really new, but I'm always happy to spread the world about live bootleg artists. Katie Enlow aka Kenlow is a talented Boston-based singer who has become internationally known for her contributions to the mashup/bootleg community. She just released her long-awaited debut EP called Rockin' the Boots. In this 6 track mini-album Kenlow sings Portishead or Beatles songs over dope instrumentals produced by his brother, Lenlow. Family Powwa, you see ;) My fave is the I Chill but grab the zip and make up your mind. The Rockin' the Boots is the essential listening for this loooong and nice weekend.

Simon Iddol has something fresh for you this week again. ToToM's long awaited new album is just out now at the WHA!?. If you are familiar with his previous works its no surprise for you that he mashed the Nine Inch Nails. - The Bootleg is Resistance trilogy, this is a triple mashup album made around songs by Nine Inch Nails from the album Year Zero, which are mixed up with completely stranger songs, most of the time. - says the ToToM, and he continues - This first volume features mashups (or bootlegs, whatever you call them) where you can hear Trent Reznor sing over other artists' songs. - So you expect  Cure, Massive Attack or even Cypress Hill or the Visages's Fade To Grey to name only few. So you can hear Trent Reznor in soul rap or new wave songs. Sounds fun? Grab this and make your own decision. The rest of the Bootleg is Resistance trilogy will follow soon.

image hosted by ImageVenue.comSimon Iddol is really surprised this week. And it's bloooody good for everybody! After 11 mashup compilation albums, after 64 episodes of the MOTW here in the Attuworld, after tons of posts at the MashUpTown and at the AudioPorn Central I think its not easy to surprise me. But G3RSt just did it and I can't be thankful enuff for him. When I hear a mashup with my fave song, I became picky and extra bitchy. The Pretender is one of my most favorite songs ever, and when I saw G3RSt's mashup my first idea was 'oh no these two can never work together'. But I was wrong, they fit like a glove and this mix adds something extra to both songs. You see, no one ever thought this. The Led Zeppelin must be very happy now, they have a real rockin' version  of the 'Stairway' now. Pick up your air guitars, bang your head and pogo.

the Mashup of this Week is...

G3RSt: Pretender To Heaven
Led Zeppelin: Stairway To Heaven
VS
Foo Fighters: The Pretender

Simon Iddol is here with the sound now, with the beats that will make you party all weekend long. The Kitsuné Maison compilations are always representing the cutting edge of today club/dance/electronic music culture. Mashing them is a huge challenge. In this meaning ElectroSound is one of the bravest producers in the Earth, because he just launched the follow up of his first Kitsuné Maison mashup album. Yes, he already made one. This second volume features 14 bootlegs inspired by Kitsuné Maison 4 and 5 compilations. Every single track is a guaranteed floorfilla and any of them can turn your livingroom into a hip club. Just play this loud and have fun.

Simon Iddol brings you a nice mellow mashup this week, to fill up your sensors with emotions. There are not enough Dire Straits mashups out there, this is a fact. I'm not a huge DS fan, well I don't really like them to be honest, but the characteristic sound of Mark Knopfler and his band is very good material to mash. Fissunix spotted this very smartly and he made an outstanding bootleg, pairing the elderly rockers with with the latest neo-folk sensation The dO. This mash has the best from both worlds! Open your mind and let the fresh energy in!! ;)

Fissunix: Once upon a time on my shoulders

image hosted by ImageVenue.comSimon Iddol is here to show you something special and crazy this week again. Probably this will be the most controversial track in the whole MOTW series. Everybody knows the original Nirvana classic I guess. The Smells like teen spirit is a kindda holy cow of the music biz. Untouchable. Only the best and the most dedicated remixers are brave enough to rework it. Divide & Kreate, my man and his ego from Sweden took this impossible mission and created an instant classic electropunk version from the dusty old grunge vibes. This is 2008 folks, Rock the house in D&K style !!! PS: if you don't like it turn it louder and play it again, it will work I'm sure.

Simon Iddol can't get enough of the guilty pleasures. If you been around in the Attuworld or in the APC yesterday you might have seen the World Premier of this track, if you haven't then here is a second chance. Many great mashups been released this week and it was a really hard choice. But as I said I can't get enough of the guiltiest pleasure, the power of the mashups. These weird mixes give you the possibility of enjoying the crappiest pop songs, because they simply get new life by mashing. Who ever thought that I will enjoy a Sean Kingston song :DDDDDD Pheugoo made this miracle and you all have to grab this tune. Guilty pleasures are the best pleasures.

the Mashup of this Week is...

Pheugoo: Beautiful, easy girls
Sean Kingston: Beautiful girls VS The Commodores: Easy

image hosted by ImageVenue.comSimon Iddol takes you back in time this week. We go back to the 80's! To the golden age, when the music was real, the sex was AIDSless, the prices were low, everybody looked stupid and the videogames were on cassettes :D Pure fun isn't it. Our guide is 10 000 Spoons. He mixed two genius bands of the decade, two megahits and they fit perfectly. The Smiths' This Charming Man mixed with The Housemartins' Caravan Of Love. Wooow! For those of you that were living in a cave in the 1980s (or were too young), This Charming Man was the Smiths' first UK hit in 1983, while The Housemartins' cover of the Isley Brothers song Caravan Of Love went to number one in the UK charts in December 1986. The best news is that this track is only the first in the row, because 10 000 Spoons will release a full eighties themed mashup album in tis month, titeled A Boot Up The Eighties and it will be available this month - if you like this, you'll love that.

Apollo Zero did an amazing mashup and I guarantee that this will wash your sorrow away and will take you away from your depressing weekdays. As Apollo describes: - This is a bit of audio snapshot, a dream, a lapse in memory, a story of identity in the glorious sunshine.. Just remember who you are... remember who you are... - The track was made from 9(!) different elements and it flows and flies perfectly. Dream on.

I told you many times that the best mashups are the totally unexpected combos, those wicked combinations when your wooooow factor-meter peaks immediately. Mighty Mike just made a track like this. 200% woooow factor! Justin Timberlake in folk. Yes, you seen it right. Yes, its not a joke. This is a really enjoyable track and deffo makes everybody smile who has heart (and ears). Yihaaaaaaaaaaa! Get your dancing shoes ;)

image hosted by ImageVenue.comSimon Iddol is calling Vienna this week! Yesterday (February 6) was the 10th anniversary of Falco's death. Falco was and he still is the most known and the greatest pop star of Austria. He had several international hits and I think there is no serious best of 80's compilation with out the Der Kommissar or the Rock Me Amadeus. Austria's finest bootlegger DJ Schmolli pays his tribute to Falco with this amazing mashup album and this is the best Falco tribute ever. The Falco re:loaded is featuring many great artists like Nelly, Stevie Wonder, Jan Delay, Bob Marley, Luniz, Sean Paul, Jennifer Lopez, AC/DC, Dr. Dre & Snoop, The Temptations, Afrika Bambaataa and many others all being mixed with some of Falco's biggest hits. image hosted by ImageVenue.comSimon Iddol is in love! I really feel the Valentine Spirit since I first heard this new track of Pheugoo. This is the sweetest love song at the moment IMO. It can be a real megahit for Valentine Day! The Loving You Better Each Day combines John Legend's Each day gets better with an old classic from Minnie Riperton Loving you. And the result is breathtaking! Especially if you know that this mashup was made from the full songs, no acapellas or instrumentals used here, this mix is a real winner!! Play it to your loved one!!

image hosted by ImageVenue.comSimon Iddol is in classical mood this week! You know, I really believe that mashups have to be fun. Fun to listen to, fun to make or create. Good sense of humor, a weird idea and good production are a guarantee for success. GrandPamini's Bach dans les Bacs album was a winner for me before I even heard it! How amazing is his idea to have a proper classical music mashup album??? And that cover, hihihihi, I'm still knocked out! This album was released a few weeks ago and this is the silliest thing to listen nowadays. How can you resists tracks titled like Sexy Bach or I want you Bach ? GrandPamini is the mad genius of the mashups, spread the world!!

image hosted by ImageVenue.comSimon Iddol just discovered the best way to produce perfect mashups! You have to take a shower just as many times as you can! Just look what happened with my man, Copycat, here is the story with his own words: - Been listening to the new Hot Chip for a while now - especially "Ready for the floor" - driving mrs. Cat crazy. One day I was standing in the shower - with the song on. While pogoing away amidst my ablutions, I could hear the muffled, filtered sound of the track, mainly the bassline. That's when I got this idea.- You see kids it is this easy! At least if your name is Copycat...
This track is really a perfect twist, for the old and dusty 'Stand by me'. Even you grandmother would party like there is no tomorrow, get some egg-flip and have fun !!

About these days every music media, artist, club, really everybody makes a best of last year chart or resume. But none of them is that stylish and perfect as DJ Earworm's solution. He simply picked up the 25 highest charting songs in the USA during 2007, from Billboard Magazine and mashmixed them into ONE song!! This is the best thing what happened with these huge chart hits so far. The United State Of Pop is the music alchemy itself, real gold from junk ;)

image hosted by ImageVenue.comGlobal peace is one step closer now!! Simon Iddol has a special story for you again! Matt Hite been a busy boy nowadays. He did an amazing Depeche Mode mashup, the Behind the Wheel [MOTW # 46], he just released a nice smooth laid back electro hip-hop mash, aaaaaaand he did a brilliant clubbydrunk&wildfuckindisco track from the latest and limited Scissor Sisters song called Lights.

You know this story is very special. Fansites and mashup producers usually don't come along nicely. Most of the hardcore fans really hate mashups, they feel like that their fave song has been ruined by mashing. But the #1 Scissor Sisters Community, the www.idontfeellikedancin.com is a different fansite. They just premiered Matt Hite's latest, called I Did The Sisters Wrong!!!
I think this strong collaboration between a fansite and mashup artists is really outstanding and we really hope many many blogs, sites, communities will follow. The track is wild and huge fun, besides of the Scissor Sisters' Lights it contains the vocals from Mims' I Did You Wrong, the Beatles' Come Together,"and Pink Floyd's Another Brick in the Wall !!! Its dammmmm hot I tell you.

image hosted by ImageVenue.comSimon Iddol is here to show you something really special. This week I recommend a Rihanna mashup for you, even if we all got serious Rihanna overdose these days. But this track is probably the best Rihanna mashup ever, because it has no Rihanna in it at all! Ben Double M created this awesome club track by mixing Bob Marley's 'Is this love' with a Rihanna clubmix what the Wildboys did. Really uplifting, happy and inspired track, one of the best Bob Marley club mixes ever!

image hosted by ImageVenue.comSimon Iddol is partying wild since Monday! We had the world premier of DJ Matt Hite's latest mashup and this magic mix is not letting me down. You will be amazed as well, just grab the track and turn it up loud!! Here is what Matt Hite had to say about his mix: I've always loved Playgroup's electro cover of Behind the Wheel -- almost as much as the original. After successfully extracting a clean vocal acapella from Depeche Mode's original, I knew these two versions of Behind the Wheel needed to be united as a proper mashup. The result is Depeche Mode's Martin Gore and Dave Gahan performing over the modern production aesthetic of Playgroup's Ewan Pearson and Trevor Jackson -- the best of both, together as one! -

Our Beautiful WeddingSimon Iddol has deja vu this week and it feels soooooo good! I'm sure you remember what was the very first MOTW, so you will have deja vu as well ;) It's Uncle Billy's 'mashtime' again. This time he is mixed by DJ Earlybird and he dropped some classic Motown vocals at the top of the White Wedding grooves. I just simply stand here speechless and amazed. How the hell can something from the 60's and something from the 80's sound so today??? Earlybird Magic Power. This smash is a real winner!

Rock on and get crazy with Simon Iddol this week! I can't stop dancing since Monday, when I first heard the Break Through Love from DJ Zebra! I know that you will go MAD too just listen this mix! Zebra made an another instant classic bootleg with mix! I can't remember how many times I told this in many many places, but it is never enough; the best mashups are the most simple ones. Those mixes which are containing two or maybe free extremely well known songs. They just have the guaranteed wooooow effect. If the mix is based on two legendary rock classics it is even better.  Noone, and I repeat noone, thought before Zebra how perfectly fit these Led Zep and the Doors megahits together, especially with bossanova drum and bass grooves! Grab this amazing track, turn it loud and make sure you read this exclusive interview with Zebra, about his current project, tours, future plans and how he created this great killer mashup.

Simon Iddol is here to show you something great again and this time it is more than special. Maybe you heard that every major player of the mainstream music biz is using Daft Punk samples nowadays. The most famous example is Kanye West's Stronger which was his supergun in the 'album sale war' against 50 Cent. The best and the most creative mashup producers can take the fever even further. Adrian & the Mysterious D gave a brave and brilliant twist for this story. They made a Daft Punk VS Kanye West mashup, which is far better than Stronger. Just check it out, pure bastard fun! A+D are the pioneers of the American mashup scene and the creators of Bootie, the world biggest and mashup party network.
